Martina Ludescher | Ayurvedic Doctor
Already as a child, I considered the days and life in general far too short to realize all my ideas and dreams. Ever since I can remember I have been a seeker, with a drive and determination within to improve and to know the self. Born and raised in Switzerland, I have always been fascinated by topics that go beyond the mundane, and by the Far East.
At the same time, I also had a keen interest in business. I studied MBA, and then worked for almost 20 years in and with Asia, in an international services company where I made a fast-paced career. At the age of 33, I was appointed as the first and only female Executive Board member in the history of the company, and served on the board for a total of almost 10 years, with P&L management and leadership responsibility for revenues of CHF 4 billion and 20,000 employees. For many years, I have lived a very intense, exciting life with an enormous amount of work, travel, and pressure.
In 2004, I started practicing yoga, and in 2006 I got to know Ayurveda. I immediately felt a strong resonance with Ayurveda, and so I gradually began to align my life with Ayurvedic principles, with adjustments to diet, lifestyle routines, and I started to travel to India every year for Panchakarma treatments.
Fast forward, I would say Ayurveda has helped me to achieve absolute peak performance in my professional life over so many years, without burning out. At the same time, it has brought about an inner transformation that aligned me to myself. It connected me with the wisdom of my body, my spirit, and my blueprint. It has brought clarity, joy and fulfillment on all levels.
My own years-long process with Ayurveda as a “user” allowed me to see, observe, and feel how Ayurveda works so beautifully on me. Out of this the desire emerged to want to deeper understand the science behind it. I first did a postgraduate degree in Yogic Science and Ayurveda at Mahidol University in Bangkok, where I was based at the time, followed by a full-fledged study to become a licensed Ayurvedic Doctor in Switzerland. Switzerland offers the most senior degree in Ayurveda medicine in Europe and is the only western country where Ayurveda is part of the health care system.
As a board member, business angel and licensed Ayurvedic Doctor, I live a very fulfilling and diverse portfolio career that combines all my passions.
My vision is to restore Ayurveda to what it once was, the leading life and health system in the world, helping people to live a maximally long, happy, healthy and fulfilling life.
